Too Late To Apologize?

Well here we are...It is the middle of April and that makes 4 months since January.  When I started this year I was full of ambition and drive and dedication to changing my habits. I started out so strong and lost a couple of pounds here and there.  Then life happened...between chewed shoes a crazy move and a list of excuses a mile long I got off track...no, not just off track...I was on the other side of the road going the other direction!  Needless to say I am incredibly disappointed with myself.  I have no one to blame BUT myself and I am resolving here and now to make a U-turn and get back on track.  I also have to apologize for not giving more updates here and on twitter. If I may be honest I was too ashamed to.  I had let myself down in a huge way and  I felt like I had let you, dear readers, down as well.  In any respect I am going to use this as a catalyst to continue my journey towards a healthier life.  I vow to be better about sharing my journey (good AND bad) and I vow to share my findings! I am planning on sharing some super yummy recipes coming up soon and I can't wait! I definitely have some big things planned for this blog in the next few months so be sure to stay tuned!! I would love any encouragement and support you feel so inclined to give! Share some comment love or tweet me @LaurelMartinez!  Here's to getting back on track!

Dancing Queen...

Confession - I have NO idea how old I am in this picture - I think I was about 4! The only thing I really remember about this day was watching an older class of students perform a lyrical number to "What if God Was One of Us."  This is me waiting in line to do a tumbling pass.  Don't I just look ready?  I am no gymnast but I have always secretly wished I could be! I love gymnastics and I love to watch it during the Olympics! Though I may not be a Gold Medalist I think I look pretty darn cute here! (PS: sorry for the poor quality of picture - it was a scan)

The Hill's Country

Lions and Tigers and Bears...OH MY!

A few weeks ago while I was in Colorado I had an opportunity to visit the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.  My good friend (and amazing photographer) Harley had gone previously and loved it so much that my Mom, brother and Harley and I headed out with coffee in hand to visit the animals!  I was blown away by some of the stories of these animals and I was horrified by what these poor innocent creatures had been made to endure.  Luckily, the amazing people at the Wild Animal Sanctuary take great care in rehabilitating these animals and giving them a new lease on life!  Now these animals have love and care and TONS of space!  Want to know more? Visit their website at http://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org/ .  You can make donations and learn more about the animal's stories!!

5 More Minutes Mom - PLEASE! Just 5 more minutes!

What a week!
